 10 years later...

"theres nothing more punk than getting old"- Wendyhouse (?)

DieDieDie's This is not an Island Anymore tour, support from Mulls (great muso's at times, interspersed with 90's alt pop jangle yawn..)

..and Memory Foam !! old punk, synth noise, with Japanese crazy lady english as second language vocals. A dream Combo ! so good.

Ended the night getting too drunk with bass player  and co, no regrets, good night had. Buy there album on bandcamp .

Dead C .....

Video recorders at a concert... shit, not as bad as photographers at the front of the stage. No one gives two beers that you've got a big camera or someone in the band wants you to "document" there show... I'm here to dance or get drunk and dance or get drunk and be a dick.. .If you don't wanna be touched go to the back.. in fact... Go fuck yourselves. .. Your ruining it for other people.

Any who.. the dead c at the frontroom in... can't remember when, with rory storm , So So Modern, good sets by all. All I remember from Rory was it was mellow and there was a bitchin beautiful Moog looking thing on stage.
I'd only seen SoSo Modern once before , Cuba Carny, they where amazing and FUN!. This set was amazing and deep!
As for the Dead C, shit, took me a while, The occasional Eusa kills at a mates house, it wasn't till I got a dub of TUSK and found a second hand copy of Trapdoor fucking Exit that it all made sense, this set was very.... tusky....It was ON!

10 mins on utube

Schwami T Boar...

Just as i was thinkin' Boris was just the good time wailin rocker of the 'Flamin'Werepigs'' I hear this minimal noise heartfelt solo set.. the complete opposite of the Werepigs.. almost..

no riffs .. no wailin.. no dancin....it's pretty on the inside.

recorded off the radio as a Live to air.. Rad Massey.. 98 ish again? this tape was noisy, or my tapedeck is ..

Schwami live to air

Knox in Box sir....

God dam i miss Chris Knox. He was my NZ hero, Dark/Light Noisy/Quiet Fun/Heart pulling, an excellent observer and commentator.. not to mention excellent cartoonist (The one where a dude plugs in his guitar in his room and every note is a pure colour is one I still imagine ) .. Fuck... "Louie likes is daily dip "was one of my first records (Ima Hit NP, had to put it on hold etc. ..) ,, and seeing "nothings Going to happen "was a highlight of those Big day out's..
Well here's two concerts i recorded at Massey University in.. 19.. 9..8? ish.. One at 12pm in a stairwell somewhere on campus, the other at 3pm somewhere near the campus bank.. yeah the banks not Happy!

He had that cool ABBA guitar and an amazing white distortion pedal with a dial on the side he could roll with his (bare) foot..

12pm..

Complete with talking and chatter and bag rustling.. just a bit of hiss EQíng

Electricity

Peter Jefferies, late 90's apparently live to air on rad Mass which maybe means there is a better copy out there? i had no idea who this dude was unlike everyone other dog and his man, but shit; Electricity blew me away.. convert..
ok recording, some familiar laughs in there (ie Elise from the bitchin' Meat Market) only half an hour.. i must have got there late :( I thought it might have been at the Wildhorse, but it may have been the Tummy going by such ques as "how's it sounding Rob"..) bit of hiss reduction... dark.

Ugly Children

So, in '97 whilst doin' a Media Studies degree in the 'Naki , we went to see Loves Ugly Children in the Cotton Club. I thought the SUCK e.p. was the most amazing thing. With Floss in pvc on the cover it helped paint a picture of some super cool scene I wanted to hear more of. From memory it was a downstairs big open room with a bar, and below ya average NZ city pub, complete with pub cover bands etc.. The turn out I think was piss poor, (but not as poor as Superette at the Mill.. Taranaki=useless!) but I had a recording walkman at the time and so grabbing a Skinny Puppy tape I recorded this....

It's all one track, with a bit of normalising and noise reduction, but I think it's alright. I recently met Simon and gave a copy to him, The first track "LILO " was apparently written after "Showered in Gold" and thus not recorded before they split, score, and it rips!
Loves Ugly  .. well.. Simon is working on a double cd retrospective/live/outakes/demo,s etc at the moment, so totally looking forward to that. \m/

Experiments in cyber..no facebook .. to hang with twitter.. just a one way outlet with no response, like a binary version of a lunatic ranting in the street.
Rants... published.. changed.. reneged .. bootlegs.. records.. Motorbikes...matter..
